Paul Urban

October 9, 1919 — February 8, 2006

Paul Urban of Arvada, Colorado went home to be with the Lord on February 8, 2006. Paul was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years Darlene. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Linda and Dennis Mourning of Claremore, Oklahoma, daughter and son-in-law Judy and Chris Karns of Arvada, Colorado and his son and daughter-in-law Paul (Jr.) and Ann Urban of Littleton, Colorado. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Dr. Katie Mourning, Dr. Amy Thornton, Adam Mourning, Philip Karns, Jenny Urban and Matt Urban and one great grandchild Anna Thornton. Born on October 9, 1919, Paul ended his formal education in junior high school to help support his family during the great depression by working in the coal mines near Louisville, Colorado. He served his country in the Navy during World War II and then went to work in construction. He became a superintendent for one of the largest general contractors in the State and, despite his limited education; he helped supervise the construction of such major Colorado landmarks as Currigan Hall, several major improvements at Stapleton Airport and "Moby Gym" and the football stadium on the campus of Colorado State University. For the past several years Paul particularly enjoyed the friendships he made through his affiliation with the Elks Clubs. Paul was committed to his family and his faith. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church for nearly 50 years. Services at Fort Logan National Cemetery will be private. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Exempla Lutheran Hospice Endowment, 6870 West 52nd Ave., Suite 103, Arvada, Colorado 80002.
