Paul Wuthrich

June 1, 1965 — December 26, 2022

Paul Daniel Wuthrich, a lifelong Denver resident with deep ties to the city and the region, died at his home on Dec. 26. He was 57 years old.

The son of Fred and Carolyn Wuthrich, Paul was born and raised in Denver, graduating from Cherry Creek High School in 1984. He left Denver for New Orleans to attend Tulane University, where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, earning a business degree in 1988.

After college he moved briefly to Washington, D.C. and, later, Steamboat Springs. But his love of music pulled him back on occasion to New Orleans, and that's where he was reintroduced to a friend from Tulane, Lisa Davis. They were married in 1996 and made Denver their permanent home.

Their twins Ashley and Davis were born in 2000, beginning more than two decades of Paul sharing with his family and friends his passion and skill as a fisherman, hunter, skier and handyman. Among his favorite days were those spent hosting friends and family at the cabin he helped build as a teen with his father and brother, David, in the mountains on Troublesome Creek near Kremmling, Colo. Accompanied by his dogs, Zulu and Ziggy, they were days full of hard work, outdoor activities, enduring friendships, and telling tall tales around the fire.

Back in Denver, working for Waste Management, Paul received a master’s degree in Environmental Policy and Management from the University of Denver, but he soon left the corporate world and began his own business as an accomplished real estate investor and developer.

Paul’s network of friends was immense, including business associates, neighbors, childhood and college friends, and relationships developed supporting his children through their years in the Denver and Littleton public schools. He was a longtime member of the Skyline Acres Swim and Tennis Club and served on the board for three years.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Lisa, and children Ashley and Davis; brother David Wuthrich (Sally), and their children John, Matthew and Tyler; and brother-in-law John Dern (Erin), and their children Jeremy, Graham and Annalie.
