Pauline Ruzicka (Newkirk) was born on November 22, 1937 in Lewellen, Nebraska to Vern Newkirk and Rachel Newkirk (Unruh). After high school she moved to Enid, Oklahoma, where she had previously lived for many years and met the love of her life, Paul Ruzicka. Pauline was living at the YWCA and Paul was in the Air Force. She helped organize social gatherings with the ladies of the YWCA and the Air Force servicemen. They married in Enid, Oklahoma in 1960 and Paul was transferred to Lowry Air Force Base in Aurora, Colorado in 1962. Pauline and Paul were happily married for 52 years. They had two children, Paula and Dwane. Pauline and Paul were very strong parents and instilled strong values along with the Catholic faith into their family. Pauline worked as a computer operator for Mountain Wine Distributor until she retired. She loved to sew, quilt, crochet, machine embroidery, play Skip Bo with her card buddies, play Yahtzee, listen to “good old” classic country music, and watch the Hallmark Channel. She is survived by her oldest brother, Bill Newkirk and his wife Joyce Newkirk, her sister Melva Glover (Newkirk) and her husband Ron Glover, her youngest brother, Don Newkirk and his wife Kathy Newkirk, her (second sister) Sister-in-law, Mildred Ruzicka, many nieces and nephews, and her two children, Paula Gilbert (Ruzicka) and her husband Tim Gilbert and Dwane Ruzicka and his wife Delores Ruzicka. Pauline entered fully into the Lord’s care on New Years Eve in 2020. Pauline was a great role model, parent and friend.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations in Pauline’s name to Shalom Park Care Center who became another part of her family during these past several years.
