Pauline Patricia Thornbrough

Pauline Patricia Thornbrough passed away Sunday morning, November 19th at TRU Hospice facility in Boulder, Colorado. A Mass will be held at Eleven O'clock in the morning on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 9998 Grant Street in Thornton. Memorials may be made to the Pauline Thornbrough Memorial Fund or to The Bird House, Hospice Home of Johnson County, P.O. Box 3338, Iowa City, Iowa 52244-3338 or www.hospicehomejc.org. Pauline was born June 17, 1917 in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Vera and Jim Siskow. She graduated from Mason City High School. She married Otto F. Benn Sr. in 1937. They had a grocery store and produce in Portland, Iowa for many years. They later divorced. Pauline moved to Denver, Colorado in the 1960's. She went to beauty school and became a beautician. She owned Aubin's Beauty Shop for twenty years. She thoroughly enjoyed her ""ladies"". She married Herbert Thornbrough in 1999. They went on many cruises. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Pauline was a wonderful Mother and Grandmother. She enjoyed playing bridge and going to the casino. Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Benn Spalj of Iowa City, Iowa; Son, Otto Benn Jr., of Northglenn, Colorado; Grandchildren, Susan (Tabby) Spalj, Thomas J. Spalj, Osage Beach; Great Grandchildren, Michael Thomas and Logan James Spalj. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; son in law, Thomas R. Spalj; three sisters and their husbands, and three brothers and their wives. The family would like to thank the caregivers from Comfort Keepers who helped provide home care for Pauline during the past nine months and also TRU hospice and her Physician, Dr. Renee Micielli.
