Pauline M. Weir

January 29, 1923 — June 3, 2010

Beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister and friend passed away peacefully in her home on June 3, 2010, she was 87 years old. A longtime resident of Northern California; Reno, Nevada; and Centennial, Colorado; Pollie, as she liked to be called was a woman filled with a spirit for life. Born in Dawson, New Mexico on January 29, 1923 the only daughter of the three children of Alfred and Mary Gallegos. Pollie graduated from Raton High School in New Mexico in 1941. A few years later she moved to Oakland, California where she met her husband, they married in 1946 at Harvard Chapel in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The mid 1960's as a wife and mother in Northern California, Pollie enjoyed volunteering as a fundraiser for Oakland's Children's Hospital; and later found tremendous satisfaction as a volunteer at Washoe Medical Center in Reno, Nevada. Her love for her children was unmatched... until she found her true calling with the birth of her first of 8 grandchildren...being a grandmother was more than just a warm and loving tie between the generations. It was a true sense of who she was. The amonut of time, love and adoration she shared with her grandchildren was a rare a life fullfilling experience. Her grandchildren would all agree she helped shape who they became and will become as adults. Pollie's passion for life was contagious as was her smile. Anyone that met her was captured by that smile, and they left knowing they had just met someone special. With her kind and generous heart she made the perfect friend and with her warm unconditional love and forgiving nature she was the perfect mother and grandmother. Attending grandchildren's events or games overflowing with pride; spending time with her children...a glass of wine in her hand on a lazy afternoon by the pool or the ocean; All bundled up cheering her Broncos on a snowy late fall evening at Mile High Stadium; On the edge of her seat , bottom of the 9th anticipating that winning run at Coors Field with her beloved Rockies; Dancing the night away as long as the music kept playing. These were her joys. This was her life. Let the band play on Pollie... We love you and miss you.
