Pete Piper, age 81, passed quietly January 14, 2022, in Greenwood Village after a battle with Parkinson's and dementia. Pete was born in Denver and adopted as an infant by Warren and Rinda (Bailey) Piper. In 1946 the Pipers also adopted a baby girl, Patty, that Pete was proud to say he picked out.
Pete graduated in 1958 from Greeley High School and joined the Navy. After his discharge and various jobs he started his 26 year career with AT&T and Mountain Bell.
In 1990 he took early retirement and purchased his dream home in Estes Park. Pete was active in Estes helping with the annual Rooftop Rodeo, the Citizen Police Academy, and the Pet Association. He was also president of the Koral Heights HOA and helped neighbors and friends whenever needed.
Pete is survived by his sister Patty (Ewing) Husman and husband Ned, Nephews Bryan and Brad Ewing, Great nephews Brandon, Mason, Robert and James Ewing: great niece Carissa Ordonez; three great-great nephews and one great-great niece.
Pete will be missed and remembered by all who ever met him. Service will be held for Pete on Saturday, February 26 at Christ Episcopal Church, 2950 S. University Blvd., Denver followed by a reception. On May 1 a Celebration of Life will be held in Estes Park with more information to follow.
