Mary Margaret âPeggyâ Claunch 75 of Westminster, Colorado, died at her home on 24th, October, 2018. She was a soft spoken person who showed kindness, caring, compassion and love to everyone.
Born February 27, 1943 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Charles and Ann Elizabeth Colvard Claunch, Peggy Claunch was one of three children. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ann Elizabeth Claunch and her brother Nathan Claunch.
Peggy grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She had a passion for horses. While growing up in Chattanooga she had a horse named Dixie. She rode her horse all the time. She spoke fondly of her nanny, Sally Reeves, and spoke of special times spent with her.
Her interests were her dogs, walking, playing the piano (classical music), listening to classical music, going to concerts with classical music, going to the mountains to enjoy the out of doors (favorite places were Lake Dillion, Colorado; Rocky Mountain National Park & Estes Park, Colorado), reading, religion and Death & Dying. She attended Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC and received her undergraduate degree in Religion. It was there that she also pursued her love for piano and Greek philosophy. Peggy then went to the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC and earned her Master's in Divinity with Languages. There she also studied various languages and excelled in writing and reading of 5 languages: English, Latin, Greek, Hebrew and Spanish. The Dean gave Peggy high praise for attaining the highest level of educated women in the seminary. After seminary she came to Colorado for a year to find what she wanted to do. Peggy wanted to do something that helped people. At the time Social Work was a relatively new profession. This appealed to her very much. Finding it difficult to get a job in religion she decided to go back to school and get a Master's in Social Work. She applied in Colorado and Ohio. Ohio accepted her first so she went back to Ohio and attended Ohio State University where she earned her Master's in Social Work. This would then give her direction for her lifelong passion to be able to help other people.
Peggy's father had encouraged her to take a look at Colorado. She longed for the outdoors, nature and dogs. Peggy returned to Colorado with her Life Long Partner, Pam Morgan. She pursued her interests of playing the piano, hiking, loved to read, go for walks with her dog and learned to ski. She got a job at Boulder County Social Services in Child Protection. During her years at Boulder County Social Services Peggy received numerous awards for her outstanding work. She stayed at social services until her retirement. After retirement she still longed to want to help people. Peggy became a volunteer for hospice. She found this to be very rewarding.
Peggy is survived by her Life Partner, Pam Morgan; brother, Charles L. Claunch, Jr.; Sister-in law, Linda Claunch; and numerous nephews, Bill and wife Sally Claunch, David and wife Susan Claunch, Kevin and wife Alyse Claunch, Craig and wife Jessica Claunch, Ryan and wife Holly Claunch and Keith Claunch.
