Peggy Thurston Larson, 83, of Highlands Ranch, passed away Nov. 20, 2006 of cancer, at home with her husband of 63 years, Aleron H. Larson, Sr., by her side. She is also survived by four children, Buzz (Michele) Larson, Julie (Chris) Catlin, Tom Larson, and Jon (Nancy) Larson, all of Denver; eight grandchildren; and two sisters of El Paso, Texas. Peggy was born in El Paso, Texas on December 4, 1922, where she grew up, and graduated from El Paso High and the University of Texas at El Paso. She met her future husband in El Paso during WWII, while he was recovering from a combat wound at William Beaumont Hospital. They were married at St. Clement's Episcopal Church in El Paso on October 22, 1943. They first moved to Denver in 1964. As a homemaker and wonderful mother, she raised her children while being very active in the Episcopal Church; she was one of the first women to be on the Vestry at St. John's Cathedral. She acted as a lay minister, helping many people for many years that were sick or in distress. Peggy loved hiking in the mountains, sitting by a mountain stream or the ocean in Maui, and was always ready for a party with friends. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, November 27th at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Cathedral, 1350 Washington St., in Denver. Contributions may be made to the Cathedral in Peggy's name.
