Peggy Vessells

Peggy Ellen Vessells, age 82 of Aurora, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at home after a long battle with Parkinson’s.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 15th at 11:30 AM followed by a celebration of life at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 11150 E. Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora, CO.

Peggy was born November 10, 1940 in Cripple Creek, CO to Phyllis & Carl Vessells.  Phyllis & Carl had 3 daughters; Marianne, Peggy & Nelda.  When Peggy was 6 years old, her father died in a tragic car accident leaving Phyllis to courageously raise her daughters on her own in Tucumcari, NM.

After graduating from high school, Peggy took a job as a legal secretary in Tucumcari, NM where she met Sidney Shore.  They were married in 1961 and while in NM they had their first two children, David & Cindy.  In 1968 the family made their home in Aurora, Colorado where their son, James was later born.  During this time Peggy was an avid golfer, wonderful homemaker, and friend to many.  Following her divorce from Sid, Peggy established her own successful career in the insurance industry from which she retired.  After retirement she loved to craft, quilt & spend time with her church family.

Peggy is survived by her 3 children, David (Tonya) Shore, Cindy (Charlie) Shore & James Shore all of Colorado.  Grandson, Alec Shore, of Colorado.  Sister Nelda (Tom) Duffey of Albuquerque, NM, and sister-in-law, Marsha Lilli of Colorado, several cousins, nieces & nephews.   She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl & Phyllis, and her older sister, Marianne.
