Pete Makelky was born December 27th, 1947 and passed away October 5th, 2022 at the age of 74. Pete immigrated to the US as a child from Germany in 1952, became a citizen in 1961, and grew up in North Denver. He attended Our Lady of Mt Carmel for primary school and played baseball for the fearsome Rough Riders. He spent his career as a Master Electrician at the family owned business, Makelky Electric. Pete enjoyed his family, Doo Wop music, playing blackjack and pretending to be a proficient interior decorator. He worked hard his entire life and enjoyed being busy. On the rare occasion he wasn’t busy, he enjoyed puzzles, pirating music, hobby trains and watching his beloved MSNBC.
Pete will forever be remembered for his extreme work ethic, quiet and gentle soul, rarely captured smile and his profound impact on his family.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Georgetta, daughter Kristen (Brian), son Dan (Kati), son Ryan (Laura) and grandchildren Cameron, Madison, Molly, Khloe, Braydon, Ella and Frankie. Also survived by his sister Erika (Herb), brother Mike (Theresa), brother Bill and countless cousins, nieces and nephews.
To honor and celebrate his life, there will be a Rosary on Friday 10/14/22 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 3549 Navajo St, Denver, CO 80211 at 10:30am, immediately followed by funeral services at 11:00am, with a lunch reception to follow.
