Phil Bedingfield

July 20, 1956 — May 6, 2020

Philip William Bedingfield was born on July 20, 1956 in Joliet, Illinois to HelenJean (Sealey) and Marvin Bedingfield. He entered eternal life May 6, 2020 at the age of 63 at his home in Castle Rock Colorado.

Phil moved to California (Huntington Beach area) with his family as a child. Phil always had a love and passion for airplanes. As an adolescent and teenager, he would hang out at the Long Beach Airport, washing airplanes for rides. He belonged to the Civil Air Patrol in high school and joined the Air Force, working as an airline mechanic, after graduating from Marina High School in Huntington Beach CA. He attended Northrup College after finishing his 4 year stint in the Air Force and received certification as
an Avionics Tech and Airplane Mechanic. He worked for McDonnell Douglas, Jet America and for United Airlines for 35 years in Los Angeles and Denver. There never seemed to be an airplane problem that he could not solve. He was known as a gentle giant. Whenever an airplane flew overhead, he always had to stop and look up to the sky. He could identify a plane just by listening to it and his loved ones were always quizzed about identifying the plane as well. He loved hiking and mountain climbing. He climbed Mount Whitney in CA 3 times and several 14'ers in Colorado. In 2011 he was able to fulfill his lifelong dream of traveling to Paris France with his wife Marcy. He was incredibly involved in his children and grandchildren's lives and activities attending many football and baseball games, dance recitals, band recitals and helping with journalism deadlines.

He remained lifelong friends with his Air Force buddy Larry Scholl. They both loved telling stories to each other and could go on for hours. He met and married Marcy (Huss) later in life. They were able to enjoy 15 wonderful years together full of love and joy with their blended families.

He is survived by his wife Marcy (Huss) Bedingfield, Son Joe (Andrea) Sullivan, Daughters Ashleigh and Lindsey Bedingfield, grandchildren Alicia (Brandon), Ryan, Alli and Kyle Sullivan, and great granddaughter, Olivia. His Mother HelenJean Bedingfield of California and two brothers, Kevin Bedingfield of California, Doug Bedingfield of Alaska, Brother-in Law Bob (Gayle) Huss and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Marvin Bedingfield and his grandparents.

A private mass will be celebrated with the immediate family on Wednesday May 13, 2020 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Castle Rock CO. At a later date a barbeque at the family home will celebrate his life.
