Phil Chavez was born in Las Vegas, New Mexico to Felipe J. Chavez and Caroline (Ahuero) Chavez on July 26, 1934, and passed away in Denver, Colorado on November 12, 2018 at age 84. Phil was married to Laura Lorraine (Seganti) Chavez on November 15, 1958 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Denver. They had celebrated 51 years of marriage at the time of her death on February 2, 2010.
He graduated from Manuel High School in 1954. He joined the United States Army and served his country in Korea and Japan. He retired after 25 years with Nobel Sysco, and then worked for Little Sisters of The Poor for 16 years, before retiring at age 81.
He is survived by his children, Gina Maria Chavez-Nicastro and her husband Anthony, Philip Chavez and David Chavez and wife Ilene, sisters Sally Choske, and Maggie Jamsay, brother Pete Chavez, grandchildren, Brianna Chavez, Janessa Hernandez, Toni Marie Nicastro, Philip Jonathan Chavez, Angelina Nicastro and Dominic Chavez, and his great grandchildren, Sophia and Alexander Hernandez.
Phil was preceded in death by his brother Paul Chavez and sister Julia Tampos.
The Graveside Service will be held at 9:00 AM, Monday, November 26, 2018 at Fort Logan National Cemetery. For those attending, please arrive at Staging Area âAâ by 8:45 AM. Following the graveside, please join the family for a breakfast reception at Homestead Grill, 11500 West Hampden Avenue, Lakewood, Colorado 80227.
