He completed 28 years of dedicated service to the United States Department of Justice for The Attorney General of the United States of America as an Internal Auditor, retiring in December 1991. Phil and Glenda delighted in multiple trips to Maui and Kauai, singing in The Choir at Cherry Hills Community Church, laughing, dancing, attending Colorado Rockies, Colorado Avalanche, Denver Broncos, and Denver Nuggets ballgames, as well as Kansas State, University of Oklahoma, and Duke basketball. Phil pursued his hobby of building and racing remote control cars with his son Brian. After Brian's death, Phil continued this hobby and became known locally, as well as nationally, as ""Flyin' Phil."" He won the State of Kansas RC Championship in his Class; he traveled to from one coast to the other with his racing buddies to participate in many racing events. A Mentor in the ""Nick's Picks"" Program of the Denver Nuggets to host special needs families at home Nuggets' games, Phil was a ""joy-bringer"" to all who knew him. As a longtime Member of the Cherry Hills Community Church, Phil was a leader in Men of Adventure Bible Study, The Choir (small group leader), a volunteer in Manna Ministry, and a volunteer member of the Pastoral Care Community Care Team, regularly visiting hospitals and hospice facilities. Phil had a God-given rare ability to bring humor, joy, and to share his heart with all who knew him. Cherry Hills Community Church recently awarded Phil the Jenny Bardsley Community Care Team 2013 Award ""In recognition of his Outstanding Ministry Service to Cherry Hills Community Church."" A Memorial Service will held on Friday, May 9, 2014, 10:30 AM, Cherry Hills Community Church, 3900 Grace Boulevard, Highlands Ranch, Colorado 80126. Phil was truly ""a man after God's own heart.""
