Philip Lane Bobo was born on November 29th, 1940, in Beaver Falls, PA and passed away December 21st, 2021, of Lung Cancer in his home, under hospice care, in Lakewood, CO. Philip grew up in Grove City, PA attending local schools through 9th grade then entered Culver Military Academy in Culver, Indiana, graduating in 1959. In 2019, Philip returned to Culver where he was inducted into the Iron Gate Association. He later received his B.S. degree from Baldwin Wallace College Berea, Ohio in 1970. For the last 40 years, Phil owned and operated tax accounting practices in Largo, Florida and later, finding retirement didn’t suit him, Evergreen, Colorado.
Phil is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ann Bowie Bobo; son Matthew Bobo and his girlfriend Rochelle Flayter; and daughter Tara Bobo and her boyfriend Jeffery Brudereck. Phil had four grandchildren: Keenan Bobo, Madison Bobo, Brett Schnacker, and Avery Schnacker. Philip was preceded in death by parents George and Berta Bobo, brothers Bernard and Robert, and his son, Bret, who passed away one month after his birth.
Philip Lane Bobo had three great passions: golf, football (including fantasy where he was a five-time champion), and most of all his family. Strength, unconditional love, and living life with no regrets were his defining qualities. Well, those and a heavy dose of sarcasm. Everyone knew where they stood with Phil, and most of the time that meant knowing he would give you the shirt off his back to help a friend or family member in need. Phil’s passing leaves a giant void in this world, but his memory and legacy will live on through all those who loved him.
Service will be held Wednesday December 29th at 11:00 AM for a visitation/viewing followed by the funeral at noon at Horan and McConaty Funeral Home (3101 S Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, CO 80227). Philip will be buried at Golden Cemetery in Golden, CO near his brother Bernard.
Friends and family are invited to a “Celebration of Life” following the service at his daughter’s home at 13788 W Amherst Way, Lakewood, CO 80228.
Memorial contributions are welcome to the American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association in honor of Philip and his grandson Brett.
Please leave memories and condolences for Philip by signing the tribute wall.
