Philip G. Plummer, 75, of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, passed away April 20, 2015. Phil was born to Gordon and Helen (Perry) Plummer on June 28, 1939, in Omaha, Nebraska. Phil, the oldest of 15 children, graduated from Mount Carmel High School. He attended Otero Junior College, in La Junta, Colorado, on a football scholarship, before graduating from the University of Colorado - Denver. He was a self-employed electrical engineer, owning Plummer & Associates, since 1976. Phil was always active in the Wheat Ridge community. He coordinated and coached the Wheat Ridge Little League Football. Phil served on the Wheat Ridge City Council for many years and was a proud Republican. Philip loved the Denver Broncos and football, in general; as a season ticket holder, he remained one of the longest to have this privilege. Philip was an avid skier and had many lifelong friends in The Schussbaumer Ski Club. For over 20 years, he and many friends met weekly as part of the Thursday lunch group. This was something Phil looked forward to as many in the group had been friends since grade school. He always felt responsible for his siblings and enjoyed keeping the family together. For example, he hosted the family Christmas bash for over 40 years. Everyone knew they could turn to Phil in a time of need. Philip was very handy and enjoyed doing home repairs and was passionate about the upkeep of his three home rentals. He cared so much, for example, he drove one of his tenants to Home Depot to get supplies to make sure the yard was maintained â another example of how Phil typically made sure others were taken care of. Phil even installed his own handicapped bar for use, as his health changed. Although faced with several years of illness, Phil never complained; in fact, he downplayed his health concerns most of the time. He didn't want life to change in spite of his illness. Phil liked the routine of his life and didn't stop attending functions during his illness. Philip remained brave throughout and will be sincerely missed by all the lives he touched. Philip is survived by his wife, Pat, their children, Stephen, Thomas, and Michael, and granddaughter, Elizabeth; former spouse, Rosemary, their children, Scott and Kim (Steve) Carl, and granddaughters, Siena & Ava Carl; mother, Helen; 13 brothers and sisters; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews. Phil is preceded in death by his father, Gordon; and a sister, Nickie. The Rosary will be recited on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 7:00 PM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 7577 West 80th Avenue, Arvada, Colorado 80003. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 24, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 1985 Miller Street, in Lakewood, Colorado 80215. A luncheon reception will follow at the church. Please share your memories of Philip and condolences with his family by signing the guestbook below.
