Philip, 88, of Westminster, Colorado formerly of Sedalia, Colorado, passed away August 16, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn (Belcher) Shepherd. Philip was born and raised in South Weymouth, Massachusetts. On June 22, 1952 he received a degree in Chemical Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston. A week later he and Marilyn were married. They then moved to Middlesex, New Jersey where Philip began his career with the Johns Manville Corporation. They were long time members of The Congregational Church in Bound Brook, New Jersey where Phil sang in the choir and served as Deacon. In 1972 the family moved to Sedalia, Colorado so Phil could continue his career with Manville. He retired from Manville in 1989 to begin his second career with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colorado. He retired again in 2009. Philip loved gardening, woodworking, and jazz music, specifically big bands. A musician himself, he played saxophone and clarinet in Big Band Orchestras during the 1940âs and early 1950âs. Philip is survived by his children, Barry (Cherie) Shepherd and Lisa (Jeff) Romeo; and grandchildren, Matthew Shepherd, Lauren Romeo, and Ryan (Madison) Shepherd. A Memorial Service in his honor will be Saturday, September 2, 2017, beginning at 11 AM, at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 7577 West 80th Avenue, in Arvada, Colorado 80003.
