Phillip Eugene Moraskie passed away on December 22, 2022, in Denver, Colorado, of natural causes. He was 63 years old. He was beloved by family, friends and caregivers and will be greatly missed. No services are scheduled for this time, but a family memorial is being planned for 2023.
Phillip was born August 1, 1959, at Malmstrom Air Force Base near Great Falls, MT. He was born with multiple medical issues and disabilities, but he never let it stop him from enjoying his life to the fullest. He loved the Beatles, baseball, singing in church, movies, long road trips, the annual Montana state fair, and big birthday gatherings with family and lots of food, especially barbecue. He was an inquisitive, high-spirited, jolly old soul with a friendly, outgoing nature.
As a young boy, he moved to Ebensburg, PA for specialized education and life skills training. After living and working for many years in Luzerne County, PA, he moved to La Junta, CO in 2003 to be closer to family. He moved to Denver, CO in 2011 and lived there until his death. He attended church at The Salvation Army Red Shield in Denver and was enrolled there as a soldier (congregant) in 2011. We pray he is now having coffee with his dad and playing baseball with Jesus.
Phillip is survived by his mother Verda “Corky” Moraskie; brothers Michael and Richard (Wendy) Moraskie; sisters Renee (Joe) Aafedt and Pamela (Daniel) Wells; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father Harry “Phil” Moraskie; and grandmothers Margaret Moraskie and Correne Compton.
Memorials are suggested to Inspiration Field in La Junta, CO; The Salvation Army Red Shield, Denver, CO; Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, Spokane, WA; or any Special Olympics chapter.
