Phillip Benjamin Tamez 77, was born January 25, 1946 in Trinidad, CO. He made his journey home to be with our lord, September 4, 2023. Phil served our U.S. Army Air force as an aircraft mechanic from 1965 - 1967. He was a proud recipient of the Vietnam service medal along with 2 bronze service stars, a national defense service medal, and a Republic of Vietnam campaign medal. An avid musician, Phil was a distinguished drummer, playing and recording with national and local acts such as Cordova Bros., Slick & Wicked, La Color and Brass Monkey. Phil was proudly honored and commemorated at the Pueblo Music Awards in 2001 recognizing musicians with over 20 years in the music community.
Phil is survived by his wife Debbie Tamez, children Kristine Tamez, Brian Chavez (Donna), Carmelita Tamez, Jason Chavez (Lori), and Theresa Gonzales (Andrew). He had 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. Also survived by brothers and sisters Anthony Tamez (Julie), Daniel Tamez (Erin Moore), Raymond Tamez (Rosalie), Ron Tamez, Lorraine Marez, Cynthia Trujillo (Richard), Rosemarie Wells (John) and Angelica Tamez.
Phil was preceded in death by his daughter Aleta Ulibarri Gomez (Emilio Gomez), mother Anna Tamez Madrid, father Daniel Tamez, brother John Tamez, sister Carmen Valdez and brother in law Leroy Valdez.
