Phyllis Irene Lowden

October 19, 1929 — November 11, 2011

Phyllis graced this world with beauty, creativity and love for family and friends. Born in Great Bend, Kansas on October 19, 1929, her family moved to Pueblo, Colorado when she was a young girl. She made many great, lifelong friends and enjoyed her teenage/early adult years entertaining. She graduated from Pueblo Jr. College, was crowned Miss Pueblo of 1949 and sang, along with her sister, Sammie, in a touring Variety Show Troop. She met her husband, James W. Lowden, 57 years ago in Kansas City, Missouri, when she was attending Kansas City University. They were married on July 10, 1954. Together they raised five wonderful children; Bill, Bob, George, Jay and Kay. Phyllis was a working mother who enjoyed what she did and her co-workers. She'll always be the ""best switchboard operator"" ever! She enjoyed positions with the law firm Dawson, Nagel, Sherman & Howard, Navajo Freight Lines, and E.F. Hutton. But her greatest job accomplishment was being Nanny to other families. She so loved the children she cared for; Natalie, Nick, Meagan, Ryan, Sitara and Chand. Each of them had a very special place in her heart. Phyllis will be dearly missed by her husband, Jim; sons Bill, Bob and his wife Dona, George, Jay and his wife Julie, and daughter Kay Wiggins and her husband John; her grandchildren Joel, Valarie, Natalie, Devin and his wife Amanda, Andrea Szemaraj and her husband Stuart, Dane, Ryan and his wife Tessa, Jake, Tom, Brittany, Tiffany, Jim, Christine and Joe; as well as her three great-grandchildren Archer, Brady and Caiden. She also leaves behind her sister, Sammie Cody and her husband Bob; sister-in-law Mary Felice and her husband David; nieces and nephews; and many, many great friends. We praise God each day for blessing us with this beautiful, loving, caring wife, mother, Nanny, sister, aunt and friend. Watch over us from above. We'll see you again, soon. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 East County Line Road (one block west of South Holly Street) in Centennial.
