Phyllis Lee Schelt

Phyllis, 86, of Arvada, Colorado died September 9, 2015, at Life Care Center of Westminster after a lengthy illness. Phyllis was born to the late Ernest and Sarah Smith on February 22, 1929, in Fort Collins, Colorado. She was predeceased by her sister, Mildred E. Smith, in 1937, and her brother, Duane E. Smith, in 1941. Phyllis graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1947, then Central Business College in 1948. She also attended Denver Academy of Court Reporting. She married Russell Schelt in 1948, and they lived together in Denver until relocating to Arvada, where they raised their family. Phyllis was an avid reader. She loved sewing, cooking, baking, and spending time with her family. She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper when time allowed, and finally retired from AT&T in 1978. Phyllis is survived by her husband, Russell Schelt; children, Jennifer (John) Uhland of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Keith (Diane) Schelt of Centennial, Colorado, and Karen (Jerome) Pfeifer of Arvada, Colorado; and a grandson, John Brian (Heather) Schelt. Services to honor Phyllis will be Thursday, September 17, 2015, 12:15 PM, at Fort Logan National Cemetery - Area ""C,"" 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, in Denver, Colorado 80235.
