Phyllis passed away in her home the evening of Saturday, November 28, eight days shy of her 59th birthday. Born in Kansas City, MO, Phyllis received a Masters in Education degree from the University of Missouri, St. Louis. She was an Elementary School Teacher and Principal in the Ft. Zumwalt School District in St. Charles, Missouri for 29 years, organizing, staffing and opening two new elementary schools. She was a leader in the advance guard of female administrators. Her students were ever her first priority. Phyllis took great pride in selecting and mentoring teams of like-minded teachers. Retiring in 2003, she moved to the Roxborough Park Community southwest of Denver to be near her daughter and granddaughter. Phyllis did her absolute best to be a fully engaged participant of life. She loved to organize. Her many interests included, but were not confined to, stained glass, golf, bridge, gardening, yoga, charities, foreign and domestic travel. She loved all music and loved to dance. She looked great driving her yellow sports car. Her love of people earned her countless devoted friends. Phyllis is survived by her husband of 40 years, Keith Owen Wiig; daughter Adrienne Wiig Rabius (Kirk) and granddaughter Emma Katherine Rabius of Parker; brother Christopher Morley Benson (Deborah) of Little Rock, AR; and parents Guy Meriwether Benson and Joan Marie Hardcastle Benson of Raleigh, NC. Her dogs Jake and Stella will miss her. A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 3, at 1:00 pm, at the Roxborough Park Community Center, 6237 Roxborough Drive, Littleton Colorado, 80125.
