Rocco Karega, aka “Rocky” was born Radford Anthony Moore, Jr on October 22, 1955 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Rocco, the first-born to Radford Sr. and Barbara J., who proceeded Rocco in death on August 18, 2015, passed away at home on Monday, August 31, 2020.

Rocco attended St. Bridgets Catholic School and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School, both in Indianapolis, Indiana. He moved to Los Angeles, California in 1978 to pursue his passion to become an actor after a double standing ovation for his role as King Arthur in the high school production of “Camelot” his senior year. Rocco took the stage name, Rocco Karega, and went on to secure several acting roles. One in the film “Nuts” starring Barbara Streisand and Nick Nolte, and several television roles to include, “Designing Women”, “What’s Happening Now”, “Cagney and Lacey”, as well as various stage roles. Rocco also wrote several film scripts and is a published author. However, his crowning achievement is in the release of the film “Demon Cop” in 1990, which he wrote, directed and starred.

During the production of “Demon Cop”, Rocco returned home to his family in Aurora, Colorado, and settled into his lifetime role as beloved and devoted son and brother. His most cherished role was in that as “Uncle Roc”, the film-loving, adoring, funny, loving, and sharer of all things “sweet” with his nephews and nieces - - the greatest joys in Rocco’s life.

Rocco is survived by his father, Radford Sr, two brothers, Clayton and Eric, and his baby sister, Kimberley. He is also survived by his nephews, Christopher, Conrad (Brandie), Leland (Simone), Chandler, Sean,  and Aric; and his nieces, Alycia (Dustin), and Adriana; as well as his great-nephews Leland R., Christopher Jr., Royce, Akai, Landen, Cebastian and Kamryn; and great-nieces Jordyn, Avery, Camryn and Kai.

Rocco is also survived by his brother-in-law Mike, his adopted brother, Larry, sister-in-law Debbie, and several friends.

A public viewing for Rocco will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. at Horan & McConaty 11150 East Dartmouth Avenue Aurora, Colorado 80014

A private service for the family will be held at 3:30 p.m..
