Ramona June Steffen passed away peacefully at home in Aurora, Colorado Friday October 2, 2020. Ramona was born to Edward and Irene Jacoby on a beautiful Christmas Day, December 25, 1933, in Milliken, Colorado. She grew up on a farm in Johnstown and Bennett, Colorado and then moved to Aurora.
She graduated from Central Business College and soon after went to work for Encyclopedia Americana and then Gaddis Oil. Ramona was active in the Aurora Public School system for years and held the position of President for the Aurora PTA/PTSA. After raising her son, Ramona returned to work in 1981 with the Principal Financial Group, and John Hancock and retired in 2006.
On September 26, 1954 Ramona married her high school sweetheart Donald and loved him with all her heart for 66 years. She was an amazing Mom a deeply loving mother to her only son, Scott.
Ramona was a huge sports fan and always rooted hard for her home teams - the Broncos, Rockies and Avalanche. She loved to travel, take cruises and spend time at the family cabin near Cripple Creek, Colorado with friends and family. She had an amazing sense of humor and could always make you feel better about things. Ramona was artistic & crafty and through the years made stained glass, did ceramics and painted. She was a strong woman and incredibly resilient through many health challenges. Her many friends describe her as compassionate, loyal, and a dear friend who always took time to listen. She loved children and always had a special connection with them.
She’s preceded in death by her father Edward, mother Irene, bother Edward Jr., sister Betty and brother John.
Survivors include “Her Guys” - her husband Donald, and her son Scott.
A memorial will be held for Ramona at a later determined date.
