Randy Eugene Blesh Randy Blesh was born in Denver on December 12, 1947. He was raised in the foothills of Golden surrounded by rattlesnakes and other wildlife. Following his birth, he lived in a camping trailer until the basement of his family built home was livable. By the time the upper level of the home was completed, Randy had joined the Navy. Randy proudly served on the USS Coral Sea aircraft carrier during the Vietnam War. Unknown to many, Randy played bass guitar with a band formed on the carrier. While the carrier was in port in the Philippines, the band performed for Queen Elizabeth. Unfortunately, Randy left the band before they became Question Mark & the Mysterians. Randy was unable to find work after leaving the Navy. Since his father Gene worked for Public Service, Randy thought his chances were good to acquire employment with his dad. Randy went to the Public Service employment office where he sat for two weeks until the Human Resources supervisor gave him a job to get him out of the waiting area. Randy continued to work for Public Service/Xcel Energy for nearly 37 years. In his later years, when working as a gas emergency responder, he would often come home with singed eyebrows and missing arm hair. While repairing gas leaks paid the bills, Randy's profession of choice was coaching sports and mentoring young people. Randy touched the lives of innumerable little league and high school athletes who shared his love of football, wrestling, and baseball. It was while coaching little league football in the fall of 1986, that he met Debbie, the love of his live. Their first kiss - - - in the Alameda High School gym during wrestling regionals. Debbie not only accepted Randy's commitment to sports, she joined him at most events as his score keeper, photographer, and sounding board. They were married on September 21, 1991. Randy's first toys of choice were bats and balls. Randy officially began playing baseball with a little league team coached by his father. Although Randy's reflexes may have slowed with time, he continued to play baseball into 2010. Randy was able to play every position, but his forte was catching, where he served as the play caller, team leader, and tamer of pitchers. In 1988 he joined the newly formed Mens Senior Baseball League (MSBL) - Denver Over 30 League. In his role of player-manager he expanded his coaching and mentoring to include team mates and friendly rivals who shared his love of the game. While attending MSBL tournaments in Phoenix, AZ and Clearwater, FL he extended his circle of friends to include individuals throughout the United States and other countries. Randy left us on September 7, 2010. Survivors include his wife Debbie; children Sean (Denise) Blesh, Jesse Woods, and Autumn Blesh; grandchildren Madeleine Woods, Chloe, Banning, and Reagan Blesh, Dylan and Aria Adams; father Gene Blesh; brother Jerry Blesh.
