Randy Jo Thomas died at the age of 69 surrounded by members of her loving family on December 28, 2017 in Denver, Colorado. Randy was born to Doug and Virginia (Stout) Wells in Denver, CO. She graduated from George Washington High school in 1966 and then went to the University of Northern Colorado where she earned both a Bachelorâs and a Masterâs Degree. Randy went on to become an elementary school teacher and taught in the Denver Public Schools for over 25 years. She taught both special education and primary grades at multiple schools including at Southmoor, Greenlee, and Fairview elementary schools. Randy married Jim Thomas, also of Denver, CO, on August 25, 1973 and together they shared 44 years of marriage. She was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos and liked to travel, read, write, and spend time at the family cabin. She was an active participant in the National Writing Project helping bring joy to the teaching and learning of writing. A dedicated wife, mother, and friend, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends until complications from liver disease left her unable to do so. Randy is survived by her husband, Jim Thomas; sister, Terri (Larry) Dyer of Arizona; brother, Jerry (Faye Bergen) Wells of Montana; children, Kelly (James Worden) and Jesse Thomas; and grandchild Thomas Worden, all of Denver. A memorial service will be held at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 1091 S. Colorado Boulevard (at Mississippi Avenue), Denver 80246 on January 20, 2018 at 1pm.
