Ray ""Mac"" McArthur, 84, of Denver, Colorado passed away at Porter Hospital on April 8, 2019. He was born to A.D. McArthur and Ola Lyons on September 23, 1934 in Oklahoma, however he spent the majority of his life in North Denver.
Ray was the loving husband of Audra McArthur, supportive father to Joe and RJ McArthur, honorary father to Scott and Toni Watson, brother to Ina McClain and Sue Walker, grandfather and role model to Natalie and John Michael McArthur, Heather and Denali Thurston, Ryan and RaeLynn Watson, and valued friend, mentor and role model to many others.
Ray spent 27 years at Franklin Serum Company and 10 years at Campbell chain but he is best known for his dedication to youth athletics. Ray was passionate about coaching and mentoring kids through sports programs. He spent countless hours volunteer coaching for the Bucking Broncos Football teams and North Denver Boys Baseball teams. Through his involvement with these sports teams, he became known as the best coach ever. His love for coaching made a lasting impression on many that he coached and he was able to see several former players become coaches themselves. Mac had a great sense of humor and quick wit. He was always telling stories, making people laugh, and lifting the spirits for everyone in the room. He will be missed, however his legacy and lasting impressions will carried on for years to come.
A celebration of Ray's life will be held at Horan & McConaty, 7577 W. 80th Avenue, Arvada, Colorado on Thursday, April 18th. The viewing and reception will begin at 9:00 am followed by the service at 10:30 am. Interment Fort Logan National Cemetery.
