Ray Warren, Jr.

August 27, 1918 — January 21, 2011

Born in Redcliff, CO to Marie Collins Warren and Ray E. Warren. One of nine siblings, Ray was the oldest. He is survived by six of his brothers and sisters, Bob, Ella, Mina, Stewart, Gordon and David and their families. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Jackie. They had two children, a son Ray E. Warren III (Lakewood, CO) (spouse Connie) and a daughter Robin C. Greene (McKinney, TX) (spouse Tom). Ray was blessed with 5 grandchildren, Sheryl Rene Warren Reeder (Annapolis, MD), Laura J. Warren (San Diego, CA), Kirk Bargenquest (Dallas, TX), Erica Wachtler (Allen, TX) and Mark Greene (Plano, TX). He has seven great grandchildren and another on the way. Ray enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps soon after graduation from high school. During WWII he served overseas in British New Guinea. He left the service and returned to Redcliff after the war. He and several of his siblings entered the logging business, operating a sawmill above Redcliff. He was called back to service for the Korean War and served in Korea for a year. He then decided to stay in the Air Force until retirement in 1963. During his service time he and his family lived in Colorado, Michigan, California, Oregon and West Germany. Upon retirement, the family moved to Denver, CO where Ray and Jackie made their home for over 30 years. Ray loved the outdoors. He was a hunter and a hiker. In later years he and his German Sheppard Radar hiked all over the Front Range. In the latter years of his life, Ray was afflicted with Alzheimer's. It got progressively worse as he advanced in age. His death was blessedly peaceful and now he is united with the love of his life. Please share memories of Ray and condolences with his family by selecting the ""sign guestbook"" button.
