Son of Asa O. Merrick and Ethel Campbell Merrick; Brother of Marie Ethel Campbell Schaffer, Step-Brother of George Wesley Harker; Uncle to Freddie (Allison) Schaffer, Vivian M. Harker, George E. Harker, Janice L. Adams and Joyce I. Saitta; Brother-in-law to Edna L. Harker, Frances Allen and Winifred Gies. Preceded in death by his wife Grace Merrick; brother, George w. Harker; nephew, Phillip Schaffer. Raymond Merrick served in the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC), a US Division of Gragin at Red Vale Company from 1937 - 1940. He served in the US Army Air Corps from July, 1942 to December, 1945. He attended Denver University (DU) for 3 years.
