Raymond Charles Price, 92, of Golden passed away on March 1, 2021 at Collier Hospice Center in Wheat Ridge. Born on June 30, 1928 in Madison, Wisconsin he was the son of Alvie Lymond and Vivian Lee (Copus) Price.  Raymond married Virginia Nelson on June 21, 1953 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Madison, WI, and together they shared 67 years of marriage.

Raymond attended the University of Wisconsin/Madison where he received his bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He went on to earn his Master’s degree in Finance.

In his early years Raymond learned to play saxophone and used his love of music and his talent to earn money playing in bands starting at age 14. He was later considered to be one of the best tenor saxophone players by his friend Stan Getz and others. The most memorable time in his jazz career was playing on Bourbon street in New Orleans.

Raymond owned and operated R. C. Price Company in Denver for over 20 years.

He was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne where his company protected the United States during the Korean war.

Raymond was a proud Eagle Scout, and always supported scouting.

He enjoyed music, photography, bicycling, learning and practicing yoga beginning in the 1940’s. He was very creative. He loved nature and the mountains especially. He was a great intellectual and learned Sanskrit to better practice yoga. His quest for knowledge caused him to learn and study all of his life.

Raymond was liked by all he met. He will be remembered for  his integrity, honesty, gentle nature, kindness, loyalty to friends and family, courage, patience,  and most of all his love for his family and how beloved he was by them.

In addition to his wife, Virginia, he is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth (Scott) Jones and Patricia ( Clark ) Nelson, his grandchildren, Ryan(Kat) Jones, Collin Jones, Austin (Jessica) Jones, Lauren (Tanner) Kussee, Kirsten Nelson, Justin Nelson and great-grandchildren, Kinley and Adley Jones.

Raymond will be laid to rest in Golden Cemetery.
