Raymond Philip Wachsmuth passed away at home, in his sleep, with his wife at his side on May 26th. Ray was born on Dec. 11, 1952 in Queens, New York to E. Audrey (Marquez) Wachsmuth. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and his siblings, Thomas Wachsmuth and Susan Wachsmuth. Ray lived in Elmont, New York until he relocated to Denver in 1973. He met Debra Doherty, his daughter Christina's second grade teacher at a parent teacher conference and married her in 1982. They were married for 34 years. Raymond is survived by his wife, Debra, and four children, Christina Maurais (Jeromy), Dustin Wachsmuth, Cody Wachsmuth, and Lore Wachsmuth. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Dominic and Desiree Maurais. He owned and operated All Ray's Vacuum in Englewood, Colorado. While living in Venice, Florida from 1994-2000 he sold real estate for Century 21. Ray worked hard to support his family and was an amazing salesman. Raymond was a Cub Scout leader for three years and was Father of the Year in 2005 sponsored by Father's Day Council and American Diabetes Association. (Denver Post June 18, 2005) He was truly a hero in his children's eyes. Ray's family was his first priority, and he was an incredible husband and father. His eyes lit up when he held his children and grandchildren. He was a hands-on father and grandfather. Children adored him and were always trailing behind him or in his arms. Ray enjoyed traveling to warm places (when he wasn't living in Florida) and loved the beach and mountains. He enjoyed boating, swimming, snowmobiling, 4- wheeling and camping with his family when he was able. His RV trip to Alaska with his wife and children in 2014 was a life long dream. He often spent time in his garage making toys for his kids or working on house projects. In addition, Raymond was known for his sense of humor and playing practical jokes on friends and family. Ray loved laughing and dancing with his wife. He was a loving, attentive and supportive husband. Raymond was a great son-in-law to James and Helen Doherty and was loyal and generous to his friends and family. He was a gracious host to extended family, friends and all his children's friends. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. Visitation and Rosary will be held Thursday, June 2nd from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Horan and McConaty 1091 S.
