Rebecca Cordova

June 15, 1948 — August 28, 2021

Denver

Rebecca Marie Cordova of Denver, CO passed away suddenly surrounded by her family on Saturday August 28, 2021 at the age of 73.

Rebecca was born on June 15, 1948 to her late parents Robert J. Cordova and Sylvia M. Cordova. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother (grammy). She was a single mother that raised her three children and worked endlessly to provide for them. She made sure her children didn’t see her struggle and they never went without. She retired at the age of 64 from her career at RTD where she was known as the “RTDIVA”. She then began to spend all her time with family, friends, and travel. Her most memorable trips were to Texas to visit family and to Las Vegas for her grandsons 21st Birthday. She lived for special events such as birthdays and holidays where she could spend time with her family and make precious memories.

Family was everything to her, she was the best mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Rebecca is survived by her children Rudolf Salas Jr., Shawntay Valdez (Bob Valdez Jr.), Samantha Vasquez (Gary Vasquez II.). Her grandchildren, Shanelle Hernandez (Joey Hernandez), Bobby Valdez III, Alyssa Vasquez, Gary Vasquez III, Jaiya Vasquez and Isaiah Vasquez. Her great grandchildren, Ava Hernandez, Aliana Hernandez, Jason Garcia, Jayla Garcia, James Madrid and Andrew Madrid. She loved her family more than life itself and she was so proud of her big and growing family. Her family will strive to honor her memory.

Rebecca loved life. She loved to laugh and even when she was happy, she would cry happy tears. She taught us all to be strong, but she also taught us to be loving, caring and passionate about everything we do in life. When Rebecca walked in, you knew it. Her smile lit up a room and you often heard her say “oh em gee”, followed by a laugh that was contagious. She loved to get dolled up and was known for being glamorous, she was an icon. From her clothes, shoes, jewelry, and purses, she brought the bling and sometimes animal print! Even if she simply wore a hat, it had to be a hat that had bling on it! She loved to decorate and shop for the holidays. Fall and Winter were her favorite seasons to decorate her house. When you walked in you knew it was that time of year because her house smelled like cinnamon spice. She loved to decorate for Fall, Thanksgiving, Halloween and her home was like Santa’s workshop for Christmas in December! She was always so excited to get her decorations out and her tree up and then have everyone over to see it. She always made her house feel like home to her family. She was an amazing cook but her specialty was her enchiladas. She loved making them for everyone. Lastly, she loved God. We know she is resting peacefully, no longer suffering from pain, and she is our guardian angel.

Rebecca is also survived by her siblings Robert Cordova Jr, Thomas Cordova, Christina Duran (John Duran), Victoria Salazar, Loretta Davis (Jerry Davis), and many nieces and nephews.
