Reginald Gilbert ""Gil"" Hammond, Jr.

Reginald Gilbert ""Gil"" Hammond, Jr. went to be with his Lord on April 13, 2013. He was born in Independence, Kansas on October 22, 1932. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Jan Sion Hammond and his loving family - son Andrew Gilbert; daughters Sharon (Rich) Brower and Jill Hammond; brother-in-law Dr. Edward (Miriam) Sion; sister-in-law Linda (Herb) Taylor; nephew Michael Sion; nieces Melanie Sion and Ainsley Taylor; grandchildren Shaun and Stephanie Brower; great grandson Christian; and cousins Suzanne Kent of Ohio and Barbara (Bob) Cooley of Oklahoma. He is also survived by his beloved Bishon-Poo ""Cuddles."" He was preceded in death by his parents Reginald, Sr. and Betty Jane, and his daughters Debbie and Teresa. Gil was a brilliant Aerospace Engineer whose career spanned decades, including designing electrical systems for planes at Boeing and LearJet, respectively, after which he joined Martin Marietta and designed spacecraft. He immensely enjoyed world travel, creating and enjoying sound systems, electronics, photography, and partying with his family and many friends. Gil and his zest for life will be missed by all. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 22, 2013 at 3:00pm at Greenwood Community Church, 5600 E. Belleview Avenue, Greenwood Village, Colorado 80111. Interment will be at Mission Chapel Mausoleum in Wichita, Kansas.
