Renee Nash

September 11, 1962 — August 1, 2014

Renee Yvette Nash went home to be with the Lord on August 1, 2014 at the age of 51 at St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado. Renee was born to Johnnie C. Nash and Fannie J. Hall on September 11, 1962 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was one of six children. Renee loved children—teaching and guiding them at all ages. She worked 15 years as a civilian teacher and supervisor for on-base U.S. military child development centers in Los Angeles, California and Denver, Colorado. After a break from working, she began a new career with Veteran's Affairs for six years before retiring for medical concerns. After living in her birthplace of Baton Rouge, Renee's family moved to Los Angeles when she was five. Renee graduated from James Monroe High School in 1980. She then received an IBM Clerical diploma from Los Angeles Business College. Renee moved to Denver, Colorado in 1990 and completed her Associates Degree in Criminal Justice at Parks College in Aurora, Colorado. Renee always loved water—swimming in it and hearing it rush by in streams and in the ocean waves. She also collected angels—multitudes of them in many forms. A devoted Christian who loved God with all her heart, Renee always shared her zeal and trust in God's providence with others as well instilling and affirming the same within her children. She was active in church until it wasn't physically possible, but still held a weekly bible study at home with family and friends. Renee was a mother to everyone and all friends became family. Friends became sisters and brothers, friend's children became nieces and nephews and cousins to her children. Everyone could count on her to be the life of the party, and boy was she! With an infectious sense of humor that would take over any event, she would have you leaving the party exhausted from laughter. Any moment in her presence became a time of joy, uplifting, consolation, consultation, rebuke and encouragement. She would listen and give you her honest opinion. She believed in everyone and she gave—sometimes until it hurt. She was special and there's absolutely no one else like her. Renee was natural mother to two children, Joshua Clyde (deceased) and Ashlee Williams, and adoptive mother to Khallilah Hassan and Ja Khori Ford. She is survived by her mother, Fannie Nash; brothers Steve (Tracy), Stan and Vernon Nash; sister, Katie Michelle Nash; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and close friends. Services will be held at Restoration Christian Fellowship, 15660 E. 6th Avenue in Aurora, CO, on Saturday, August 9 at 3:00 pm.
