We regretfully announce the passing of our beloved Renée Dewey Richeson, 80, of Centennial, Colorado. Renée died unexpectedly on November 15, 2023 from injuries sustained in a traumatic fall. Renée’s loss was completely unexpected and the family is shocked and deeply saddened. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Renée, loving and dedicated wife and mother, was brought into this world on April 20, 1943 to Lynn Merrill Dewey and Elva Cheney Dewey. Born in Fort Defiance, Arizona, Renée grew up on Native American Reservations mainly in Arizona and Southern Colorado. Renée loved her background with the Native Americans and had a passion for them all her life. She loved Scotland, and often spoke of her love of the country and her amazing trip there.
Renée was talented in so many ways! She was a beautiful pianist and singer - and also excelled at the accordion (family joked about whether that was a talent). She was an amazing genealogist and knew so many stories of the family history. She was also a great seamstress who made many prom and wedding dresses, not to mention cute blankets and embroidered baby clothes that she gave to so many.
Her little sister Marilyn remembers being fascinated with her many dates and marriage proposals. Jim was the lucky one who stole her away, and she was always his Princess. The two of them have a love like no other.
Renée was a woman of strong faith and she instilled in her family the importance of family, hard work, and doing what is right. She loved the gospel and always lived it, no matter what trials came. She had a great love for the temple and doing temple work. She was so kind, caring, and such a giving person who always put the needs of others before her own. To know her was to love her.
Renée was preceded in death by her parents, Lynn & Elva Dewey, son Todd Richeson, and sister Sheryl Dewey.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Jim Richeson; her children, James (Julia) Richeson II, Jeffrey Richeson, Darcy (Louie) Senador; Grand children, Cameron (Tori) Creviston, Caitlin (Devon) Grow, Chelsea Richeson, Trey (MyKenna) Richeson, Caileigh (Travis) Black, Tori (Bryce) Salvatore, Courtney (Mark) Creviston, Nathan (Kelcee) Richeson; Great-Grandchildren, Eli Creviston, Jaxon Grow, Harlee Grow; Mark Douglas Chamberlain; siblings, Royce (Sherry) Dewey, Marilyn (Kent) Granat, Vaughn (Beverly) Dewey, Lynell Dewey.
If desired, in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the St. Labre Indian School (https://www.stlabre.org), a charity near and dear to Renée.
The funeral will be held on December 1, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 11755 Tara Road, Parker, Colorado 80134. Visitation will begin at 10am with the funeral following at 11am.
