Reuben Jacob Sironen was born June 20, 1932 in Ewen, MI to Emil and Maria Sironen who immigrated to the United States from Finland. He was the youngest of their 10 children. He died November 10, 2023 in Highlands Ranch, CO. He was baptized August 28, 1932 at First Lutheran Church in Ewen by Reverend F.W. Kaskinen. He was confirmed on June 20, 1948 (his 16th birthday) at First Lutheran Church, Ewen, MI by Reverend A.J. Korhonen. He married Beverly Jean Kubasch on July 1, 1961 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Livermore, CA officiated by Reverend Hilton Schlecht.

Reuben attended public school and graduated from Ewen High School in 1950. He graduated from Michigan Technical University, Houghton, MI with degrees in chemistry. He was employed at Argonne National Laboratory, Argonne, IL, General Electric Vallecitos Nuclear Center, Pleasanton, CA, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Livermore, CA and EG&G Rocky Flats Plant, Golden, CO from which he retired in 1995.

Reuben moved with his family to Boulder, CO in 1970. He was a member of Mt. Hope Lutheran Church for 34 years and served on various boards and offices. He was also active in the International Lutheran Laymen’s League and Lutheran Hour Ministries. In 2004 he moved with his wife to Highlands Ranch, CO at which time they become members of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Highlands Ranch. Reuben traveled to Finland on two occasions to visit ancestral relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly, his parents, four brothers (Reino, Matthew, Alex and Eli) and five sisters (Hilda, Saima, Ruth, Senia and Gertrude). Additionally, one sister and one brother died as infants. He is survived by his daughter Ania of Albuquerque, NM and son Joel (married to Denise) of Centennial, CO. He has three grandsons Jack, Alex and Charlie and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be designated for The Lutheran Hour (660 Mason Ridge Center Drive, St. Louis, MO 63141), Holy Cross Lutheran Church (9770 S Foothills Canyon Blvd, Highlands Ranch, CO 90129) or to a charity of one’s choice.

He will be buried next to his wife Beverly in Winsted, MN.
