The Reverend Robert P. Meznar V.F. was born in Denver on July 30, 1934. His father Joseph P. Meznar was born in Austria, came to America, became Head Bookkeeper at American Smelter, and died in 1951. His mother Mary Rose Meznar, was born in Golden, Colorado of Austrian parents. She was a Housewife until 1951, then a sales lady, and supervisor for Denver Dry Goods store for 29 years. She died in 1996. His brother Father Joseph A. Meznar, was born in 1932, Denver, Colorado, a Priest of the Archdiocese of Denver since 1958. He is retired and lives in the Denver area. Father Robert Meznar went to Swansea Grade School K-5th grade, then Annuciation 6-12th grade and Graduated in 1952. He was offered several academic scholarships to different Universities of which one was Regis University. Father Robert entered St. Thomas Seminary in 1952 where he earned his B.A. in Philosophy, 1956 and his M.A. in Religious Education, 1959. He was Ordained A Priest in 1960. His first assignment was Assistant Pastor of Cure D'Ars Church, Denver, Colorado until 1966 when he was assigned Pastor of St. Peters, Flemming, Colorado until 1969. In 1970 he was named Associate Pastor of St. Anthony of Padua', Denver, Colroado for 10 months. Father was then assigned 1971-1977 at St. Bernadette's, Lakewood, Colorado. From 1977 to 1983 he was Associate Pastor at Risen Christ, Denver, Colorado. In 1983 Father Robert P. Meznar was named Co-Pastor of St. Catherine of Siena Denver, Colorado. In 1990 Father Robert Meznar was named Pastor of St. Catherine of Siena by the now Cardinal Stafford. In 1999 Archbishop Chaput named Father Meznar Dean of West Central Denver Deanery, with the title Very Reverend Robert P. Meznar, V.F. Visitation Sunday, 8:00am-4:00pm, Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3020 Federal Boulevard, Denver, Colorado. Recitation of the Rosary Sunday, 7:00pm, St. Jude Catholic Church, 9405 West Florida Avenue. Funeral Mass Monday, 10:00am, Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 1530 Logan Street. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery, 12801 West 44th Avenue, Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
