Father Leo was born in Yuma, Colorado to George and Mayme (Lutz) Blach on June 9, 1928 and passed away in Denver, Colorado on March 11, 2023. Father Leo was predeceased by his parents and siblings Dillon and Ramon Blach.
Father Leo attended Yuma High School, Regis High School and St. Thomas Seminary. Father Leo was ordained on May 29, 1953 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Denver by Archbishop Urban J. Vehr. He was Assistant Pastor at Presentation of Our Lady in Denver, (1953-1956). He was Pastor at St. Ignatius, Rangely & Holy Family Mission, Meeker (1958-1964); Christ the King, Evergreen (1964-1976); St. Mary, Brush (1976 - 1988); St. Anthony, Sterling (1988 - 1991); and Immaculate Conception, Lafayette (1991-1996). Father Leo also served as Chaplain at St. Anthony Hospital, Denver (1956-1958) and Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Theresa #980, Sterling (1988-1991).
A Vigil Service will be held at 6:00 pm at Horan & McConaty, 1091 South Colorado Blvd., Denver. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:10 pm at Christ the King Chapel at St. John Vianny Theological Seminary, 1300 South Steele Street, Denver. Interment will follow immediately after Mass at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
