Rex L. Glass, formerly of Wheat Ridge, passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on June 3, 2015 in Lakewood, Colorado. Rex was born March 2, 1922 in Strawberry Point, Iowa to Fannie Mae and Jerome Glass. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruth. Rex is survived by his brother, Robert (Carol) of West Des Moines, Iowa; his children, Doug (Nancy) Glass of Omaha, NE, David (Ginny) Glass of St. Louis, MO, and Nancy Youmans (Bill) of Lakewood, CO; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and nephew, Mark Zimmer of Omaha, NE. A memorial service will be held at Wheat Ridge Presbyterian Church, 9180 West 38th Ave., Wheat Ridge, CO on June 19, 2015 at 1:00 pm following a private burial at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Rex grew up in Colesburg and Edgewood, Iowa and was studying at Upper Iowa University when he was drafted into the US Army Signal Corps and trained as a Morse code teletype operator. After the war he completed his degree at the University of Denver. He married his beloved wife, Ruth, in 1948 and they shared 65 years together. Rex briefly worked for Husky Oil in Cody, Wyoming and then returned to Denver where he spent 30 years with Samsonite Luggage Corporation, ending his career as Director of Traffic and Distribution. Upon retirement, he continued to work for the United Way and the Denver Symphony. Rex enjoyed travel, reading, spending time with family and tending his roses. Rex had many friends and is remembered for his charm and his kindness to all.
