Rhonda Lurayne Mathias

August 15, 1946 — June 16, 2015

Rhonda Lurayne Mathias left this mortal existence on June 16, 2015 at 4:30p.m. She suffered from CREST syndrome most of her life and recently was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Rhonda was born on August 15, 1946 to Edwin Charles Jones and Melvina Gardner Jones in Reno, Nevada. She is survived by her husband George A. Mathias; son, Kelvin ""Kelly"" Lee Mathias (wife, Kelli); daughter, Kolleen Lynn Jackman (husband, Lorin); sister, Lorna Muir (husband, Bailey); and brothers, Lyle Jones (wife, Grace) and LaVelle Jones (wife, Judy). She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Kelvin ""Kelly"" Lee Jones. Rhonda had the privilege of knowing her nine grandchildren and each one had a very special place in her heart. Rhonda's early years were spent growing up in Fallon Nevada where she graduated from Churchill County High School. A short time after she and George married on February 14, 1964 in the St. George, Utah, LDS Temple, they moved to Colorado. Rhonda was a very devoted mother and wife. After her children went into middle school she started working outside home. She loved sewing and as a result worked at Hancock Fabric for several years. When she changed career paths she worked for the Adams County Sheriff's Office for over 17 years. She really liked her jobs and the co-workers loved her. Rhonda was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She truly loved our Savior and enjoyed serving Him in many callings. Through her church activities and work activities she made many friends and several of them were impressed with Rhonda's thoughtfulness and compassion toward others. Rhonda was truly a wonderful person in all aspects. A Visitation will be held on Friday, June 19, 2015 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton, Colorado. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015, at 11:00 AM, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1951 Elmwood Lane, Westminster, CO. An additional viewing will be held at the Church from 10:00-10:45 AM. Her final resting place will be at Crown Hill Cemetery.
