Richard ""Rick"" Leslie Lewis Barber

May 3, 1946 — June 28, 2013

67 of Denver, shuffled of this mortal coil on June 28th, 2013 due to complications of ALS. Rick was a long time radio talk show host spending most of the past 30 years doing the overnights on KOA. Born on May 3, 1946, in Providence Rhode Island, Rick spent much of his youth growing up in New York City. After a brief stay to finish High School in Tennessee, Rick went off to BYU for a year of college. After that he enrolled in the Army and became an officer serving in South Korea during the Viet Nam War. He eventually received his College degree from Metro State University. Rick fell in love with radio as a youth and started working at radio stations as a teenager. After his stint in the Army, Rick moved to Denver and began his long career working in Television and Radio. This life took him to Rock Springs, WY, Santa Fe, NM and Albuquerque NM where he work in TV, Talk Radio and was a morning drive Rock DJ. He returned to Denver in 1982 to begin his run on KOA. ""My footprint should be somebody who made you laugh, made you feel comfortable, made you feel good. That's how I want to be remembered."" In Media and Entertainment, he did the following: Radio Talk show host, TV news anchor, Radio DJ, TV Booth announcer, TV Commercial actor, Motion Picture Actor, Motion Picture Voices, Stand Up Comedian, Program Director, College Instructor. Rick will always be remembered for his sense of humor and quick wit, his adventuresome spirit, his love of the mountains, as a passionate supporter of the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, and as an avid Beatles and jazz fan. Rick is survived by his son Ian Barber of Centennial, his brother Chuck Barber of Virginia, and Grandchildren Kali and Drew. In lieu of flowers and to show your support, the family asks that contributions be sent in Rick's name and memory to the ALS Association, Rocky Mountain chapter. Services were held.
