Richard "Dick" Bennett, 89 of Aurora Colorado passed away at University of Colorado Hospital on May 1, 2020 of pneumonia.
Born the youngest of six and visually impaired on July 7, 1930 in Liverpool England. Taking advantage of a scholarship opportunity, he immigrated to the United States and received a degree in Electronics Engineering from the University of Nebraska. The love of this emerging field led him to start his own business in electronics repair in Portland, Maine.
In 1966, he married Nancy Ann Purinton. They had two children and in 1976, relocated to Lewiston Maine where he changed careers. As a counselor for the Department of Human Services, he was able to assist many visually impaired citizens to obtain work and better their circumstances in a sighted world.
Richard retired from counseling in 1994 and moved with his wife to Aurora, Colorado to be closer to his children. There he lived life to the fullest, supporting Colorado sports, engaging with friends and cherishing family.
He is survived by his wife Nancy, his daughter Andrea and his son Bill.
