Richard Lever Elkins Jr

Richard Lever Elkins, Jr, age 78, died on January 1, 2025. He was a graduate of George Washington High School (class of ‘64) and later earned his Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Colorado at Denver. He served in the U.S. Navy and was Honorably Discharged with an injury in 1966. Rick spent the majority of his working years in the automotive parts field, spending 30+ years working with Mercedes and specializing in both inside and outside sales of automotive parts. 

He met and married Nancy (Hoover) in May of 1973, and remained married for 51 years. Rick is survived by his wife, Nancy, as well as his daughter, Stephaine Jankovich (with her husband Phillip), and his son Erik Elkins. He also is survived by his beloved granddaughters - Avery, Piper, Emerson (Jankovich), and Kendall Elkins. 

Rick was an avid fan of all motorsports - he loved Formula 1 racing, rally racing, and all types of European racing. He loved cars and working on them, repairing, building, and creating different parts and accessories from wood. He was also a very creative woodworker, having a gift with different types of wood and loving to build furniture and crafts. He loved books, films, and bad humor - specifically of the English variety. He had a memory for facts and was a notoriously vicious Trivial Pursuit partner. His dry sense of humor and non-serious approach to all aspects of life will be treasured and missed by all who knew him. 

Funeral services will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Monday, January 27, 2025, with a Celebration of Life being held immediately after. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the American Diabetes Association.
