He enlisted in the USAF in January of 1956 taking basic training at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas and serving as a mechanic at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware until his discharge in October of 1958. He then joined his family, who had moved to Denver, Colorado, met and married Viola Paschal and worked various jobs and as a route salesman for 7-Up Bottling Company winning salesman of the year. After 7-Up, he and Vi moved to California and Dick again worked various jobs and finally settled into selling high-end imported car audio equipment. He continued living the good life in California for many years until moving back to Denver in 1988. Through the years, he helped his father in many different business ventures in both Green Bay and Denver beginning at an early age at Elliott Esquire where one of his jobs was waxing the shuffleboard. He helped his Dad at several other ventures including an industrial cleaner in Green Bay and a snack shop in Denver. In his later years he helped all of the older ladies in his mother's neighborhood however he could with home and yard maintenance and trips to stores, etc. He was the main airport go getter for the family while still complaining about living in Colorado as he didn't like the cold. He wished to return to California but stayed with his mother and was her primary caregiver until her death in 2005. He then lived with his sister Chris for a while and then on his own until illness dictated otherwise. Dick had a heart of gold and when he could, gave whatever he could to all those around him. Up to the time of his passing, he was talking about and wanting to do something useful. He was a loving uncle, avid animal lover, especially dogs, and dearly loved his football. He touched many people's lives. Funeral Service will be Thursday, August 25, 2011, 10:30 am at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 East Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora, Colorado 80014.
