Richard Henry Goldberg (Dick) passed away at the age of 97 3/4 peacefully in his home in Highlands Ranch CO on October 22, 2020, due to a series of age related declining health issues. He was surrounded by his loving wife Ellen and for the past many months by his stepchildren Amy and Ralph who provided the assistance they needed to be able to continue to live at home. He was frequently visited by his many children and stepchildren.
Dick was born on January 21, 1923 and grew up in New York State, graduated from Syracuse University and then served in the US Army Signal Corps towards the end of WWII. He met his first wife Peggy and married in 1947 and raised 3 children, Michael, Thomas and Carol, while working at his father’s business in the photographic industry. He moved the family to Colorado in 1966 to run his own business, a machine shop (Accutool Inc.), and to allow him to better pursue his passion for skiing. After the passing of his first wife, he remarried in 1979 to Ellen Pesch Miles, who became his partner in life and in his businesses. His career took him on to start a software company (Foothills Software) which he undertook in his early 60’s and from which he ultimately retired at age 74. In addition to being a skier he was a private pilot, owned a number of planes and traveled extensively.
He is survived by children Michael Goldberg (wife Carolyn), Carol Goldberg (husband Steve), Tom Goldberg, step children Linda Daly (husband Steve), Peter Miles (wife Jessie), John Miles (wife Nancy), Howard Miles, Amy Giberson (husband Ralph), David Miles, 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. His legacy as a sharp, funny, kind and interesting man with a big personality will live on the hearts of everyone who knew him.
