Richard Andrew Heiman

September 18, 1942 — February 14, 2012

Born September 18, 1942 in Los Angeles, California to Ellsworth and Rose Marie (Hand) Heiman. Dick died February 14, 2012 at Porter Adventist Hospital in Denver, Colorado. It is with a heavy heart that we announce the peaceful passing of our most wonderful husband, father and poppy. Dick retired from the City & County of Denver's Retirement Plan 6 years ago. He was the Information Manager for 26 years. Dick loved his long career in the computer industry. He also was a teacher of computer languages at Aurora Community College for many years. He enjoyed all sports, especially baseball. He was an umpire for many years in Jefferson County. He loved the Dodgers and the Rockies, but got the most pleasure watching his grandson Tim play competitive & high school baseball & basketball. He is survived by his wife & best friend of 34 years, Jean; daughter Bonnie (Lawrence II) Maxwell; son Jeff Heiman; daughter-in-law Sheryl Heiman, Schaumburg, Illinois; 4 grandsons that he adored, Timothy Ealy & Lawrence Maxwell III of Aurora, Colorado and Justin & Evan Heiman of Schaumburg, Illinois; brother Ronald (Jan) Heiman, Anaheim, California; brother-in-law Donald (Mary) Stewart, Hudson, Massachusetts; sister-in-law Marilyn Pickett, Somerville, Massachusetts; and many nieces & nephews. Dick was also the loving master of his other best friend, Lacey, dog. A celebration of Dick's life with reception following, will be held Monday, February 20th at 11:00 AM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 East County Line Road (one block west of South Holly Street) in Centennial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dick's name to the Denver Dumb Friends League, 2080 South Quebec Street, Denver, Colorado 80231 or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
