His work is what brought him and his family to the Denver area in 1968 after living several years in Lubbock, Texas and Tulsa, Oklahoma. No matter where he lived, he was always actively involved in the United Methodist Church. Most recently, with his family he had attended Northglenn United Methodist Church for almost 45 years. Richard was born on February 28, 1923, on the family farm in Lincoln County, Oklahoma. He graduated from Cushing High School and went on to attend Oklahoma A&M before being drafted into military service. He met his future bride, Emma Jean Wells at the Methodist Church in Agra, Oklahoma. He entered the United States Army and served in the China Berma India Theater during World War II and was still proud of his service as was seen by the Veteran baseball caps he frequently wore. His priorities in life were aligned as his God, his wife, his family, then his career and country. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am Monday, April 30, 2018, at Northglenn United Methodist Church. He will then be rejoined with his beloved wife, Emma Jean, with graveside services at Fort Logan National Cemetery where military honors will be observed.
