Richard A. Lujan, of Arvada, passed away March 10, 2015 at the age of 63. He was born August 10, 1951, the fourth of ten children born to Deacon Edward Lujan, Sr. and Aurelia (Angel) Lujan in Denver, Colorado, both of whom preceded him in death. Richard suffered through many illnesses in his life, but rarely did he show it. He seemed to be endowed with nine lives, fighting back from the brink of death to rejoin his family. He loved his siblings. Richard loved his children, but his special joys in his later years were his grandchildren. He visited with them, advised them, and consoled them. Richard was their mentor and their rock. His passing has left a chasm that may never be filled. However, the greatest love of his life was his wife, Pauline. He is united with her once again. Richard will be remembered most for the constant smile on his face. He lived life to its fullest whether he was down or up. His positivity was infectious and he could always be counted on for sage advice and/or some levity to break the tension. If you were a friend of Richard's, you were his friend for life. There are only a few people who profoundly affect you to the point that when you realize they are gone, it feels like a part of your soul has been lost. Richard was one of those people. Survivors include children Joshua Lujan, Tom (Tiffany) Lujan, Shelly (Shawn) Phelps and Shawnda (Jesse) Falk; grandchildren Danae Lujan, Amber Lujan, Joshua Richard Lujan, Jereth Phelps, Savanna Ulmer, Kero Thominson, Athena Lujan, Anthony Barclay and Jessica Barclay; siblings Edward (Linn) Lujan, Jr., Charles (Sheila) Lujan, the late Daniel Lujan, the late Michael Lujan, Joseph (Kim) Lujan, Therese (Nathan) Gonzales, Judith (James) Lusk, Bro. Laurence J. Lujan C.Ss.R., and Louise (Joe) Gomez. A Vigil Service will be held Sunday, March 15, 2015 beginning at 5:00 in the evening at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3201 South Wadsworth Boulevard in Lakewood. A Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, March 16, 2015 beginning at 11:00 in the morning at Presentation of Our Lady Catholic Church, 695 Julian Street in Denver.
