Richard J. Munoz

Richard John Munoz, 56, passed away on March 7, 2019 in Thornton Colorado surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born in Gering, NE to Martin and Juanita (Hernandez) Munoz on June 1, 1962. He attended Gering Valley and Gering High School, where he graduated in 1981. Richard was an avid dancer and singer. Some of his fondest memories were from the Harmony Program at Gering High School. He married Mary Lundstrom on June 2, 1984. From their union came 5 children he loved dearly. He enjoyed fishing, cruising his cars and spending time with his family. Some of his favorite times were spent with his 3 grandchildren.

Richard is survived by his wife, Mary Munoz; children, Amanda Munoz, Victoria Munoz, Richard Munoz II, Ariana Lundstrom Munoz and Taylor Munoz; grandchildren, Christian Munoz-Miller, Azaria Charles and Giel Charles, all of Thornton CO; siblings, Alice Castillo Rico (Gustavo) of Yuma, Martin Munoz (Cinda) of Gering, Sylvia Flores (Henry) of Scottsbluff, Juanita DeCluette (Patrick) of Lincoln, Patrick Munoz (Michelle) of Scottsbluff, Lawrence Munoz (Amanda) of Scottsbluff; brothers-in-law, Edward Lundstrom (Silvia) of Detroit, MI, Joseph Lundstrom of Gilbert, AZ, and Robert Prue (Deon) of Lawrence, KS; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Christopher Munoz; brother-in-law, Patrick Lundstrom; treasured nephews, Daniel Griego and Cpl. Brett Lundstrom; several aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 13, 2019 from 5-7pm followed by a Rosary at 7pm, both at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 10:30am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 11385 Grant Drive, Northglenn. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
