In loving memory of Richard, who has departed from this earthly life to embrace eternal peace in the arms of our Heavenly Father. Born on November 23rd, 1954, Richard was a radiant light in the lives of all who knew him, embodying love, kindness, and unwavering faith. A devoted believer, he changed his life to be guided by the teachings of Christ.
Richard majored in Drama and Dance and had the privilege to perform with The Cleo Parker's Dance Ensemble during his Junior and Senior years at North High School, and some of his college days at Northeastern.
Richard went on to join the US Army and was stationed in Germany. While in the Army, he acquired carpentry skills which lead him to be an all around Handy Man. He remodeled the Parrish Hall of Avondale Lutheran Church, did maintenance for Avondale Village Apartments and worked as the Maintenance Supervisor for The Regency Hotel.
Richard's spirit will forever inspire us to walk in faith and spread joy. His laughter and sense of humor echoed through every gathering, his strength gave us courage during difficult times. While we grieve his loss, we celebrate a life well-lived - a testament to God's love shining through one remarkable soul. Until we meet again in Glory...
Richard was the fourth of five children. He is preceded in death by his parents, Geri and Emmitt; wife, Octavia; sister, Linda and brother, David. He is survived by his sister, Donniece; brother, Clarke; Children, Tamkia and Demetrius; Nephew, Amawndie Putney and his children, Amari, Jaelyn, Jai'el, Jayliah, Jamara, and Christina; niece Nachelle Caldwell and her children Marquis, Marissa-Skylar, Jacob, Ryleigh, Makaylah, and Mariah; niece Dawnyell Retland and her children, Zacqariah, Zavier, Adrew, Micheal, Rachel, and Jasmine; as well as many cousins and friends.
The family of Richard Newby would like to express our deepest gratitude and sincere appreciation for all of the loving expressions, words of comfort, prayers, phone calls and other methods of care and concern during our bereavement. Each act and deed brought us peaceful consolation, for we sorrow not as those with no hope, for we know we shall see Richard again.
