Richard L. Olson

Richard Lyle Olson was called home by the Lord on March 12, 2015 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Richard was born May 6, 1944 in New England, North Dakota to Louise Krogh Olson and Lester Olson. Richard graduated Regent High School in 1962. Richard married Lolita Faye Huether July 19, 1964. In this union, two sons were born, Robert and Ricky. On May 17, 2001, Richard married Julie Heidecker Helfrich in Brighton, Colorado. Richard attended TriCity Message School in Kennowick, Washington and then passed the North Dakota State License Board of Message. Richard enjoyed relieving people's aches and pains through massage. He also taught gun safety. Pheasant hunting was another passion of his. He loved square dancing, country music, collecting guns, knives, and old western movies. He loved spending time with his grandkids and family as well. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Julie Olson of Lochbuie, Colorado; two sons, Robert of Dickinson, North Dakota and Ricky (Karen) of Chandler, Arizona; brother, Wesley Olson of Summersville, Missouri; sister, Charlene Lantz (Richard Bergenson) of Mott, North Dakota; stepdaughter, Chris (Steve) Thomas of Henderson, Colorado; stepson, Jason Helfrich of Lochbuie, Colorado; six step-grandchildren; one step-great granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Curtis Olson; sister-in-laws, Laura Olson, Kathleen, Angela, Diane Heidecker; and brother-in-law, Jack Willis. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 20, 2015, 11:00AM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton, Colorado.
